Confirmation

Affirm your faith in Jesus Christ.

What is Confirmation?

United Methodists use the term “confirmation” to mark the first time a baptized Christian (usually a student in middle school) publicly “confirms” their intention to live the vows of the baptismal and membership covenant and so becomes a professing member of the local congregation and The United Methodist Church.

At Asbury, confirmation is a year-long faith journey. Each week, confirmands meet weekly during the 9:45 a.m. Sunday School hour in the RESET Student Space. Twice a year – each fall and spring – the students attend weekend trips to help them examine and develop their own faith. In May, students have the opportunity to become full members of The United Methodist Church and Asbury.

Asbury also believes confirmation is a Milestone, a special event designed to support sixth graders (as well as seventh and eighth graders) where they are and help parents navigate the teenage years.

On Sunday, August 16, Asbury’s confirmation classes begin at 9:45 a.m. in Room 106 (in the student wing). Registration for the 2026-2027 class is now open!
