Special Highlights

The October Mission of the Month is Community Outreach – we want our neighbors to feel welcome at Asbury!

Asbury is hosting a pumpkin patch that’s open from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 12:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday every day in October. Plus, we’re having family-friendly events in the patch every Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to noon. Both students AND parents can earn Youth Service Funds by volunteering at the patch so this is a great opportunity to serve together while earning money toward future student ministry trips and events. Need more information about YSF funds? RESET portrays Asbury Staff, Trunk or Treat 2023

Not only are we selling pumpkins but Trunk or Treat is Sunday, Oct. 25 from 4-6:00 p.m. This year’s event is rain or shine. Guests can expect dozens of decorated trunks, plenty of candy, inflatable games, a train ride, cake walk, ropes course, and FREE hot dogs. Get your friends, family, or Life Group together to build an amazing trunk on Trunk or Treat!

On Sunday mornings in 945, Rev. Austin Lerner Gay leads high schoolers in a two-year, group Bible study that journeys through Scripture from Genesis to Revelation.
During RESET 945 on Sunday mornings, students explore the Bible creatively, ask questions, and grow closer to God together.

Sunday Mornings, 9:45AM

Middle School Students (Room 113): Join a fun, discussion-driven class that pairs meaningful conversations about faith with interactive, hands-on activities. This space is a great fit for students who want to:
• Learn about their faith through open and engaging dialogue 
• Explore biblical truths in creative, activity-based ways
• Connect with others while growing in their connection with God

High School Students (Room 102
): Join an immersive, two-year Bible study that takes us through the entire story of Scripture from Genesis to Revelation. This space is a great fit for students who want to
• Read through the whole Bible as a group in a supportive, discussion-based setting
• Deepen their biblical literacy/understanding and learn how to interpret Scripture on their own
• Grow in confidence sharing their faith and talking about what they believe to others

Sunday Nights, 5-7:00PM

Students today often feel an enormous pressure to perform at the highest level. Win the championship. Get the best GPA. Join the right clubs. Build the perfect résumé. Keep all your ducks in a row. Excel. Be the best. Don’t fail. Many students at RESET seem to have the impression that everything they do now determines the success of their entire future. Middle school becomes preparation for high school, high school becomes preparation for college, and college becomes preparation for whatever comes next. And while that is certainly true in some ways, it can make our students feel like there is no room to slow down, make mistakes, change direction, or simply be present.

But life is not always as high stakes as it can feel. When students begin to believe that their worth and future depend on constant achievement, that kind of grind culture can become a barrier to what God is trying to do in and through them. It can make it difficult to rest, listen, take risks, notice the people around them, or follow God into something that does not look impressive on a résumé.

Sometimes saying yes to God may actually mean letting go of the pressure to prove yourself and trusting that your life does not have to be perfectly planned in order for God to use it.

We hope to see students this Sunday, Oct. 4 at our UNITED Worship Night as we create space to slow down, connect with God, unpack some of the pressures students are carrying. Join us from 5–7:00 p.m. in the student worship space. Dinner is available for $5, and we can’t wait to see them there!

Asbury RESET Student Life Groups, Wednesday Nights
RESET Life Groups help students bridge the gap between life and faith.

Wednesdays

Life Groups are back! Middle schoolers: Join us every Wednesday night in the Student Space from 6–7:15 p.m.! We’ll start the night hanging out together, then gather for worship and a short 5-minute devotional from one of our clergy. Afterward, students get to choose how they spend the rest of the night: join a Life Group to talk about the devotional, faith, and how life is going, or keep hanging out and playing with friends!
