Vacation Bible School

Jesus is a GREAT Reason to Have a PARTY!

We had an amazing celebration at Asbury B’ham Vacation Bible School this week. Parents, thanks for allowing us to share about Jesus’ unconditional love and forgiveness with your children! If you’re not already following Asbury UMC on social media @asburybham and @asburybhamkids, please do. We’ve posted photos, videos, and reels of all the fun we had this week – check them out and show your kiddos!

VBS may be over but the party NEVER ends and we’d like to invite you and your family back to Asbury for VBS Sunday (this Sunday June 30). Here’s what we have planned:

 • Parent Breakfast (9:45-10:45 a.m.): Curious about the fun your kids had this week and the lessons they learned? We’d love to tell you about it, introduce you to our Asbury Kids Team, and chat over breakfast while your kids continue partying in Room 214 (details below). Join us in the gym.

• Sunday School (9:45-10:45 a.m.): Kindergarten-fifth graders will revisit the “bottom lines” they learned in VBS (ask your kids to tell you what those are!), learn more about Jesus’ love for everyone, and play games – just like we do in Sunday School each week. Rising sixth-twelfth grade student volunteers are invited to 945 which is our RESET Student Ministry Sunday School downstairs in the Youth Space. Please encourage kids and teens wear their T-shirts.

• Traditional Worship (11:00 a.m.): It’s Time to Start the Party! All kids who attended VBS are invited to sing two songs they learned this week in worship for our whole church family. You’ll also hear more about this week’s VBS mission: Bringing clean water to people of Awang’tar Village in Kenya.

• Children’s Church (every week at 8:30 and 11:00 a.m.): Children’s Church happens after the Children’s Moment (in Traditional Worship) and scripture reading (in Modern Worship). Kindergarten through second graders can follow a children’s team member to Room 214 for worship and a lesson that ties in with what we learned in Sunday School. The nursery is also available for kids ages 0-4 during worship and Sunday School.

Women in Eldoret

VBS MISSION

The people living in Awang’tar village outside of Eldoret, Kenya rely on a local stream to get water. It’s a dangerous hike. Sometimes the stream runs dry. Sometimes the water makes them sick. Thanks to your generosity, we raised 1750900 (Kenya Shillings) or $15,468 USD to drill a very deep (more reliable well) called a borehole in Eldoret. THANK YOU!
