Heart Connection is the senior ministry at Asbury, serving singles and couples, 60 and better. Everyone is invited to participate in activities and programs, and to join our community of people seeking Christ and growing together in faith, service, and friendship. The Heart Connection mission statement is connecting people to Christ.
All of the groups and events below are part of Heart Connection – find something that sparks your interest! Transportation to each event is provided from Asbury. Call the church office at 205-995-1700 if you have any issues registering for an event.

Lunch at Jeff State Culinary School | Friday, Oct. 1
The Hospitality/Culinary Management Department at Jeff State prepares students for a variety of positions in health care institutions, schools, restaurants, commercial types of food services, hotel and other lodging operations. Enjoy lunch (appetizer, choice of entree, and dessert) at Jeff State! Transportation leaves Asbury at 11:15 a.m. for an 11:30-1:00 p.m. lunch. The cost is $25 (includes lunch and transportation). RSVP by September 28 (or until sold out – 30 seats available). Register now.
Holiday Spectacular at Red Mountain Theater | Saturday, Dec. 12
It’s an annual celebration of everything we love about the season, from chaotic joy to quiet warmth, all tied up with a big sparkly bow. Seventy-five performers take the stage for classic carols and modern music, plus new surprises every year! Transportation leaves from Asbury at 1:00 p.m. for the 2:00 p.m. show. The cost (includes ticket and transportation) is $60. Register today – only 22 seats are available!
Exercise Opportunities
Adults of all ages are invited to play pickleball in Asbury’s Gym at the following times:
Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, 2:30-4:30 p.m. First time attending? Let Nancy Hollaway know you’re coming.
Learn how to listen to your body, stretch, meditate, and exercise through the art of yoga. Drop in Mondays from 9:00 to 10:15 a.m. in the space outside the sanctuary. Bring your own mat. The class is $5 per session.
