Inside Out

Inside Out, October 2024

Anxiety, anger, fear, sadness. These feelings can be overwhelming and frustrating. But, they’re also inevitable. The Bible tells us that Jesus offers us peace, forgiveness, trust, and joy, bringing balance to our lives and comforting us with the knowledge that no feeling is forever. This October in both Modern and Traditional Worship, let’s go inside out together, embracing every emotion and finding strength and hope through God’s love.

We all deal with worry or anxiety. When those worries and fears begin to interfere with our daily living, we may need expert guidance and professional care. Christians can pair modern treatments with deep spiritual truths to help us navigate the difficulties of life. The thing to remember is that God is good. God is for us. And God is with us.

Anger can well up inside us and poison our hearts and our relationships. Especially when our anger spews forth in words and accusations. Being slow to anger and slow to speak allows us the opportunity to truly deal with our anger and move towards forgiveness.

Fear can be a good thing that protects us from danger; but it also can be at the very root of many of our spiritual problems. While the Bible frequently contains the phrase “Do not be afraid,” it also teaches us powerful ways to overcome fear so that it does not balloon into something even more dangerous within our hearts.

Joy is a fundamental fruit of the Spirit. It transcends temporary happiness and it’s deeply rooted in our relationship with God. When we cultivate joy through gratitude, focusing on God’s blessings and engaging in service, our spirits can be lifted and we can impact the lives of those around us.
