Rise Against Hunger is growing a global movement to end hunger by empowering communities, nourishing lives, and responding to emergencies. Every December, Asbury partners with Rise Against Hunger to pack thousands of shelf-stable meals. (It only takes a few hours!) They can be sent anywhere in the world to feed hungry men, women, and children living in poverty.
Missions Coordinator Brooke Jackson has seen hunger–but also empowered communities–firsthand when she served as a missionary in war-torn, impoverished South Sudan. This year, through Brooke’s efforts, a $19,000 donation Asbury’s Mission in Action paid to host Rise Against Hunger will go directly to Hope for South Sudan: a residential school and orphanage as well as the site of a farming sustainability project in Torit. The 50,112 meals themselves will be sent wherever they are most needed in the world.
