Hooray! Your kindergartener has graduated from the nursery and is ready for big-kid church! This year they’ll learn how to carry God’s word in and out of worship as a Bible Bearer. What an important responsibility and role they serve. Let us know when your child wants to participate in worship!
Through focused lessons, your child will learn that baptism is a gift of God’s grace that welcomes your child into God’s family, reminding them—and you—that they are loved, claimed, and never alone. They’ll also learn about communion – a sacred meal where your family is invited to experience Jesus’ love in a tangible way, learning that all are welcome at Christ’s table and that God’s grace nourishes us throughout our lives.
We recite the Lord’s prayer every time we meet. With reinforcement at home, your second grader will quickly know the prayer Jesus taught us pray. Your child is also old enough to carry the light of Jesus into and out of worship as an acolyte and we’ll train them how.
On Sunday, Sept. 27 during 11:00 a.m. worship, our third graders will be gifted their very own Bible. That night from 4-6:00 p.m., we’ll have Family Bible Night from 4-6:00 p.m. with dinner and activities. Kids are encouraged to bring their Bibles to Sunday School each week at 9:45 a.m. With help from you, parents, God’s word will come alive.
Preteens are ready to grow in faith and responsibility, so Wandering Wednesdays give them monthly chances to live out their faith through service, community, and fun, while retreats create space to build friendships and deepen their relationship with God. Parents: seek out serve opportunities to do as a family.
In the United Methodist Church, confirmation is when a baptized middle school student publicly claims their faith and commits to their baptismal vows, becoming a professing member of the church. This year, preteens will hear about confirmation and RESET Student Ministry. Plus, they’ll train new acolytes and Bible bearers.
