Columbarium

Ashes to ashes, dust to dust.

What is a Columbarium?

A columbarium is a permanent structure with niches or compartments designed to hold urns containing ashes of loved ones.

Asbury United Methodist Church is honored to offer a custom, granite columbarium to its church members and their immediate families.

A set of two 104-niche units is located along the long, left wall in the Prayer Garden between the Sanctuary and Williams Chapel.

Why Choose a Columbarium?

A columbarium provides church members and their families the opportunity to have a final resting place within the shadow of Asbury, a place they know, love, and cherish. Family, friends, and the church family can visit and meditate at any time.

Cremation and the price of a niche is far less than costs associated with caskets, burial sites, and gravestones. There is also no need to plan for inurnment and memorial services at different locations.

What is Included in the Fee?

Each niche costs $2,500 and includes two urns. A single individual can purchase a niche and urn for $2,250. More information on pricing and space selection can be reviewed in the application.

How do I Purchase a Niche?

Review the policy and download an application. The reservation fee must be submitted with the application. When approved, inurnment ownership rights will be sent to the purchaser.

When Can I Purchase a Niche?

Anytime. Applications can be submitted to Congregational Care Pastor Maggie Dunaway in the church office, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. If you would like to set up an appointment for more information, contact Maggie at 205.271.9918.
