Angel Tree

Helping Shelby County families.

Asbury partners with Shelby Emergency and Oak Mountain Missions to bring Christmas to children whose families are struggling.
Each angel represents one of six gifts each child will receive. We also provide food gift cards to families.
Volunteers sort the items--everything from bikes and Lego sets to clothing and accessories.

Every November, Asbury UMC partners with Oak Mountain Missions and Shelby County Emergency to provide gifts to children for whom Christmas does not come. This year, we’re helping 84 children from 27 families.

On Christmas Trees located outside our Traditional and Modern Worship spaces, you will find red and green angels and each angel represents one of six gifts we provide for the children.

How to Adopt an Angel:

– Take a red/green angel from a tree, fill out the attached white angel and leave the white angel in the box on the table.
– Purchase suggested gift items. DO NOT WRAP.
– Place unwrapped gifts in a shopping bag and securely attach the red or green angel to the outside.
– Return gifts by Sunday, Dec. 4.
—- Sundays: Drop off items under the Angel Tree
—- Monday-Friday: Deliver items to the church office, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

You may also purchase a food gift certificate for families: Write a check payable to Asbury UMC and note “Angel Tree Food Certificate” in the memo line. Return the check to the church office by Tuesday, Nov. 22.
