Serve Asbury

Your church needs you.

When you become a professing member of a United Methodist congregation, you take vows to faithfully participate in the life and ministries of your church through your prayers, presence, gifts, service and witness.

Most of us do lots of these things well. We pray. We’re present. We support others in need. But how about serving your church? Are you involved at Asbury? Our staff lays the groundwork for ministries and programs, but they cannot live-stream church, make a church member dinner, or greet new visitors alone. We need YOU.

So how do you volunteer? First, think about your passions. What do you like to do? Take this spiritual gifts assessment if you’re not sure. And then, explore the opportunities listed below. A staff member will reach out to you and help you get plugged in.

Greet the congregation, hand out bulletins, and help collect the offering for Traditional Worship.

Volunteer Spotlight: Usher

From greeting the congregation and handing out bulletins to helping collect the morning offering, there is only real requirement to serve as an usher for our Traditional Worship: A smile. Choose your service: 8:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m., or both.

More Volunteer Opportunities to Consider:

Cameras, sound boards, and computers may sound and look intimidating, but no previous tech experience is required for these roles. Our directors teach you everything! Questions? Contact Technical Director Matthew Butts.

Nearly 25 security team members serve the congregation on Sundays and lots of events in between. In case of a fire, medical, tornado or violent event, there are things you can do to help our team. Interested in joining the Security Team? Email Leader Jim Griffin.

Sunday school teachers, group leaders, helpers and chaperones. There are lots of little things you can do that make a big impact on a child’s life and faith development. Passionate about kids? Contact Children’s Director Susanne Warren. Love students? Reach out to Student Director Kyle Chickvara.

Giggles & Grace is Asbury’s biannual children’s consignment sale that benefits Asbury and the communities we serve. The sale is entirely volunteer run, including its planning committee. Interested in getting involved? Email the co-chairs.
