Missions in Action

Helping locally, nationally & globally.

Rev. Greg Foust

Angels Among Us

During his time at Asbury UMC, Rev. Greg Foust modeled what it means to have a true servant’s heart. In honor of Pastor Greg, an “Angels Among Us” grant through Missions in Action has been established to encourage individuals or groups from Asbury to serve “the least of these” in unique and creative ways. Have a project in mind to help others?

Urban Ministry is a faith-based nonprofit focused on working with the residents of West End to build a thriving community.
Grace Klein Community unities individuals, businesses, ministries, and churches to share what they have in order to meet physical and spiritual needs locally and globally.
Church of the Reconciler is a multicultural, multiracial United Methodist ministry by, with, and for the homeless in downtown B'ham.

When Asbury UMC was established in 1986, its founding members and clergy decided that on top of the 10% it gives to The United Methodist Church for ministries and outreach, Asbury would give 10% more to Birmingham and its community partners through its Missions in Action program.

In 2023 alone, Asbury gave more than $760,000 to the The United Methodist Church as well as local organizations like Grace Klein Community, Urban Ministry, Church of the Reconciler, and more.

We urge you to learn more about the programs Asbury backs and choose one to support. Find out how you and your family can make a difference, whether by volunteering, making a financial contribution, or simply praying for the individuals affiliated with and impacted by each ministry.
